Our Town Foundation (OTF) is celebrating the opening of several new women-owned businesses in downtown Hamburg. Three ribbon cutting celebrations were held recently to welcome these new businesses and more are anticipated in the future.
“Our Town Foundation, Hamburg’s community revitalization non-profit, is excited for this growth in town,” OTF stated in the release. “Our Town Foundation works to revitalize, promote, and preserve downtown historic Hamburg for families and future generations.”
Incorporated in 2003 as a non-profit charitable organization, Our Town Foundation offers ribbon cuttings as a way to support local businesses.
The Mill on 3rd Street
The Mill on 3rd Street held its grand opening Sept. 14 to mark the completion of the community and business center.
The Mill on 3rd is a collective of businesses housed in a historic multi-floor building at 202 S. 3rd St. Hamburg, weaving together a piece of the community to create a space where people gather to connect and grow mentally and physically, OTF stated in the release.
While some businesses have already been open and operating at this location, the grand opening celebration recognized the completion of the commercial space as a whole and opening of a new business — The Smoothie Distillery — offering smoothies, smoothie bowls, and other healthy treats.
Other businesses at the location are The Vibe: Connect and Thrive, a yoga and fitness center; GO Getter Movement Studioz, a studio for fitness, pole dance, lyra and more; Massage & Wellness Co., offering various massage and bodywork techniques; The Animal Resource Cooperation, providing healing and support services for animals; Wild Sage Plants & Healing, selling charming plants and home décor; and Three Strands Community Center, a gym and community center promoting growth in Faith, Family & Fitness.
Building owner Erica Mietelski, a Hamburg resident, operates The Smoothie Distillery and The Vibe: Connect and Thrive.
“The community came together to support this collaborative community center and celebrate Erica’s vision for creating this innovative and welcoming space,” OTF stated in the release.
Legatta Bakery
The Hamburg community also applauded the opening of Lagatta Bakery at 5 S. 4th St. in the downtown area.
Lagatta Bakery opened its doors this summer offering pastries, croissants, stuffed pastries, muffins, coffee, drinks and more. The official ribbon cutting was held and supported by residents on Sept. 22.
Co-owners Andrea Restrepo and Laura Velez, Alburtis residents, chose Lagatta as their business name as a symbol of women’s empowerment and strength.
Restrepo used to drive through Hamburg often and chose Hamburg to open their store front business. Both owners came from different career backgrounds and found joy in baking top quality goods.
Nail Fairy Salon
On Oct. 4, the community joined together to celebrate the opening of the Nail Fairy Salon, joining the growing list of downtown businesses.
The Nail Fairy Salon opened at 322B State St., Hamburg and offers manicures, pedicures, and related services.
Owner Elizabeth Ramirez, from Muhlenberg, expressed her gratitude for all the support and feels very welcomed by the Hamburg community.
Ramirez said doing nails is like art to her.
“It’s crafty and I see how it makes my clients feel good and allows me to pamper them,” Ramirez said in the release.
This work is her passion and she has been wanting to open her own salon for a long time. She said she is overwhelmed by the kindness in town and very excited for the future.
