Baerbock denounced what she said were Iranian political tricks using hostages, and accused Tehran of trying to exploit Germany’s support for Israel in the broader Middle East conflict as justification for the execution of Sharmahd.
The German minister said: “There are more Germans who are unjustly detained. We also have a strong commitment towards them and we continue to work tirelessly for their release.”
The Minister also called on the European Union to include the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on its terrorism lists.
