The met office announced a yellow weather warning for strong storms, effective between midday and 6pm on Sunday.
Storms are expected to hit the mountains and inland areas, as well as the south and east coast.
Rain is expected to fall at around 35 millimetres per hour, while hailstones have not been ruled out.
As such, the met office called on the public to be “aware” of thunderstorms and to take extra precautions when in “exposed areas”, including in mountains, forests, and on plains.
