BOYERTOWN — The Fred Beans Automotive Group this week is kicking off its annual year-end campaign to end hunger.
The company has set an aggressive goal this year.
Starting on Friday, Nov. 29 through the end of December— during its Drive to 4,000 sales event — Fred Beans will make a donation to a food bank for every vehicle sold.
This year’s goal is for the dealerships to sell 4,000 vehicles — which the company expects will fund 100,000 meals through both food and monetary donations. That result would be double the meals funded last year through a similar campaign.
“This is the time to buy a new car or truck,” Beth Beans Gilbert, vice president of Fred Beans Automotive Group, said in a statement. “We not only provide extra savings and incentives on our vehicles, but we do so with the intention to make a difference with each sale.”
The Fred Beans Automotive Group is also collecting nonperishable food items to add to the monetary donations.
The company will make donations to the following organizations, according to the release: Bread of Heaven Food Pantry Abington, the Bucks County Opportunity Council, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, the Flemington Area Food Pantry, the Salvation Army of Boyertown, the Salvation Army of West Chester, the Washington Community Food Pantry and Willow Grove Baptist Church Food Pantry.
Fred Beans Automotive Group launched its first meals challenge in May 2020, at the height of the pandemic, with a goal of providing 500,000 meals by the end of the year, according to a press release. Since then, the company has held year-end campaigns and supported employees in taking paid time off to volunteer at the hunger-fighting organizations that receive Fred Beans’ contributions.
