Several flood warnings have been issued as the county prepares to battle with higher-than-usual tides.
Weather experts have advised flooding is possible across two different parts of Kent, affecting a sizeable portion of the coastline.
The Environment Agency says areas at risk of coastal flooding are on the Isle of Sheppey and North Kent Coast from Kemsley to Seasalter, including Sheerness, Minster, Queenborough, Leysdown-on-Sea, Sittingbourne and Faversham.
Areas most at risk include low-lying land, promenades and coastal footpaths which may experience flooding between 1pm and 3pm today. Thankfully, no property flooding is expected.
It also advised coastal and tidal areas from Sandgate to Lydd, including Hythe, Dymchurch, St Mary’s Bay, Littlestone, Greatstone, New Romney and communities on the Romney Marsh up to the Royal Military Canal could be affected tomorrow.
High spring tides are expected to affect the foreshore between Sandgate and Dungeness with tides at their highest between 12.30pm and 1.30pm today, though conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide.
The situation across both areas will be closely monitored, with gates and barriers in the regions closed and further updates to be offered this afternoon.
