An exciting agenda lies ahead with Christmas events organised by the Nicosia Municipality.
Mayor Charalambos Prontzos highlighted that the Christmas Village, hosted for the second year in Laiki Yitonia, will serve as a meeting point and source of entertainment for both young and old. It offers a festive atmosphere filled with activities, games, music and the traditional hospitality that characterises Nicosia.
Events scheduled across various parts of the city, including concerts, Christmas parades, a competition for the best-decorated shop window, theatrical performances and workshops, promise unique experiences for residents and visitors.
The events planned aim at revitalising the historical and urban centre of the capital. As such, the municipality has created a Christmas route that starts within the city walls, passing through pedestrian streets, the Christmas Village, the Fairyland, Ermou Street, and extends to Makarios Avenue, Stasikratous Street and all districts of the municipality.
To get a dose of Christmas in Nicosia this December, the lighting of the Christmas tree takes place this Sunday in Eleftheria Square at 6pm. Next week, on December 7, there will be a Santa Walk from 11am to 7.30pm and the lighting of the Christmas tree outside the Mall of Engomi.
On the following day, the Children’s Christmas parade will take place on Makarios Avenue gathering all for a festive walk in the city centre at 4.30pm. The lighting of the Christmas tree at Ayios Dometios chapel will take place on December 15 as well as a parade of classic cars through the streets of Nicosia on the same day at 3pm.
