Adel Al Redha, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, said: Emirates AirlinesOn the sidelines of the first session of the “Dubai Artificial Intelligence and Web 3 Festival”, “We will receive 5 aircraft Airbus Until the end of December of this year, no aircraft has been received. Boeing Until now.
He added: “Due to the delay in receiving the aircraft, we were forced to extend the service of some of the existing aircraft.”
He pointed out the aircraft modernization operations carried out by the company and Emirates Airlines’ keenness to provide the best experience for customers, noting that the aircraft modernization program is based on 190 aircraft after increasing the number of aircraft targeted for modernization according to the plan, the cost of which exceeds 3 billion dollars.
Al-Rida explained that the delivery challenges go back years, as many companies working in the field of aircraft manufacturing were affected during the Corona pandemic, whether by reducing the volume of manufacturing or laying off a percentage of workers. Therefore, after the end of the pandemic, the demand for aviation was very large, exceeding the ability of those companies to meet market requirements and reorganize their affairs properly.
He said: “As for Boeing, the issue is different, as there are problems in manufacturing and testing the aircraft, which affected the receipt of aircraft by Emirates Airlines and other companies, of course, and while aircraft were supposed to be received in 2021 or 2022, they have not been received yet.”
He said that discussions are still ongoing with Boeing to find out the reasons for these problems and challenges and to study their ability to accelerate the increase in the number of aircraft manufactured.
Regarding oil prices and their impact on the tanker, he pointed out that fuel constitutes about 30 to 35% of the tanker’s operating costs, and therefore any change in prices affects operating costs and revenues.
“We are constantly studying the market and hedging against risks by pre-purchasing some quantities, but that does not provide full coverage to control oil price risks,” he said.
