Crews had been working to restore power through medium voltage cables in individual properties in Sotira, Frenaros and Ayia Napa since early morning, the electricity authority (EAC) said on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s weather phenomena had caused a number of minor problems throughout the island, most of which were dealt with, EAC spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou told the CyBC.
She explained that many faults were the result of worn out installations at private premises.
Problems are exacerbated when temperatures fluctuate Papadopoulou said, and EAC staff remain on stand-by to intervene when needed.
She advised the public to preempt outages from blown fuses by unplugging devices during intense lightning activity.
In other matters, Papadopoulou said that the undergrounding of cables is progressing. Network expansion in areas of dense vegetation is carried out with insulated cables which do short-circuit, she said.
