The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Wednesday that Abdel-Ati received a phone call from his Syrian counterpart, Bassam Sabbagh, during which they discussed “the latest developments and field developments in northern Syria, and the dire repercussions of these developments on the security and stability of Syria and the entire region.”
The statement indicated that ways of Arab support for the Syrian state were discussed in light of recent developments, especially within the framework of the Arab League.
The League of Arab States will hold a ministerial-level meeting on Syria next Sunday at the request of Damascus.
The clashes had broken out in Aleppo Governorate Last Wednesday, between a coalition of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham And factions loyal to them on the one hand, and the Syrian army forces on the other hand, following a massive attack launched by armed groups.
