An interactive art workshop in English will take place at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation this Sunday, designed for young teens and adults. As part of its Moments at the Museum 24 event series, the foundation presents the De-mapping the Familiar: A Journey Beyond Boundaries workshop.
Taking place at the foundation’s Georgios and Nefeli Tziapra Pierides Archaeological Museum, the 11am workshop will combine the imaginative realms of surrealism and cubism with practical creative practices.
“Through this workshop,” explain organisers, “participants will embark on a journey of discovery, exploring how art can transform the familiar into the fantastic. The session begins with an engaging introduction to the surrealist and cubist movements, examining iconic artists and their ground-breaking works.”
Participants will then take part in a creative exercise, reimagining the map of Cyprus through collage and painting techniques. “This process encourages them to question the boundaries between reality and imagination, challenging their perceptions and unlocking new avenues of creativity,” add organisers. By the end of the morning, young participants will produce their own artworks to be displayed in a mini exhibition.
