Cyprus is counting on the UK’s support in efforts to solve the Cyprus problem, the country’s high commissioner in London Kyriakos Kouros said on Tuesday, and pointed out the importance of the upcoming meeting between President Nikos Christodoulides and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Speaking at an event to mark the 64th anniversary since Cyprus’ independence, Kouros referred to the unrest around Cyprus and the efforts the country made with the Amalthea corridor for humanitarian aid to reach Gaza.
Cyprus is trying to fulfil its duty as an “anchor of stability” in a region in turmoil, Kouros said.
