Before the month ends, Nicosia will welcome one more festival to its busy October agenda to entice film lovers, directors, filmmakers and industry professionals to a series of events from October 28 to November 2.
The Cyprus International Film Festival Golden Aphrodite in its 19th edition will take place at the Melina Merkouri Hall and with a week-long programme it will feature films and individuals from both the local and international film scene.
The agenda this year will of course include a series of film screenings from the world cinema scene. Films from various categories will be featured such as Women in Cinema, Global Cinema, Fiction, Animation, Sports, and Documentary offering a diverse choice of cinematic evenings.
What’s more, the festival will also hold a networking event where local film industry representatives and investors can meet and discuss the possibility of collaboration. Other festival events include a charity concert gala, a photography exhibition presenting a visual journey into the lives of Cypriots from the past and a poetry presentation and discussion.
More discussions will take place as part of the Creative Europe Presentation with internationally recognised directors and producers conversing with the local film industry. In addition, a lecture by Yianna Tsolakis will explore the buffer zone as a place of greenery, serenity and care in reconciliation.
Other parallel events will dive into AI in audio-visual media, gender equality, filmmaking and the differences for actors and acting for directors in Inessa Kraft’s workshop, as well as planned day trips. Of course, a festival highlight will be the Golden Aphrodite Awards ceremony where cinema achievements and outstanding contributions to culture and the arts in Cyprus will be honoured.
