Creativity wins big at Daniel Boone Optimist Club’s Halloween Parade

Excitement and creativity traveled through the streets of the Lake Drive area in Douglassville during the Daniel Boone Optimist Club’s Annual Halloween Parade on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

“I feel parades like ours foster a sense of community and celebration, bringing together the spirit of Halloween in a joyful, playful way,” Daniel Boone Optimist Club member Linda Bradfield, parade coordinator, said in a release. “It’s a wonderful community tradition and I’m proud to be part of the planning each year.”

A mix of spooky and festive elements captured the spirit of the season. The hearses and grim reapers added that eerie vibe, while the hayride and circus performers brought a fun, lively energy. Even pop culture was represented with a Fortnite float.

As is tradition, the Daniel Boone Area High School Homecoming King and Queen rode at the front of the parade in a convertible. This year’s honor went to Harrison Delissaint. Homecoming Court members Damian Trice, Morgan Brennan, Max Heffner and Darius Cruz walked beside them.

Families lined the sidewalks, waving and cheering as the parade moved along and Daniel Boone Area High School Band played upbeat tunes that added to the lively atmosphere. Children watching the parade were ready to scramble for candy tossed to them by costumed walkers and festively decorated floats.

As in years past, local businesses and organizations helped make the 2024 Halloween Parade a success. The Daniel Boone Optimist Club would like to give special thanks for their kindness to Lucky Squirrel Printworks, Sturgis Pretzels, Redner’s, Dieffenbach’s Chips, Amity Fire Company, Amity Police, and Amity Township.

The parade also included a costume contest. The winners earned a cash prize.
