There are conflicting reports about the fate of Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, after the Israeli army targeted the party’s central command headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
Israeli and Western media revealed that the Secretary-General of Hezbollah was the target of the Israeli raids, and the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported that it is not yet certain whether Nasrallah was inside the central command headquarters at the time of the bombing. A source close to Hezbollah denied reports of Nasrallah’s assassination and confirmed that he was fine.
Israeli Channel 13 reported that intelligence information confirmed that Nasrallah was at the targeted headquarters, but his fate was unknown, and that the Israeli army was verifying his fate.
An informed Israeli source stated that Israeli estimates indicate the success of the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah.
The Israeli strikes targeted Hezbollah shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to continue Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah, in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly on Friday, amid fading hopes for reaching a ceasefire that could prevent the outbreak of an all-out regional war.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health said that at least two people were killed and 76 others were injured in the latest Israeli raids on the southern suburb of Beirut today, Friday, and described this as a preliminary estimate.
