A musical ritual, a ceremony-like performance will soon take the stage of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre with Nama Dama enchanting audiences. The performance on November 10 is presented by Nicosia 2030 within the framework of the Nicosia International Festival and its goal to support young artists. As such, Nama Dama will perform, joined by special guest young artist Alexa Michael.
“The ecstatic voice of Nama Dama will flood the Nicosia Municipal Theatre with the music of her new album Pagan Soul, which is released this winter,” say organisers. “This is a woman’s musical performance, an amalgam of pagan folk motifs woven together with soul-pop vocals and electronic textures through live looping.”
In her performances, Nama Dama sings live while playing the keyboards, recorder and percussion. Her music sheds light on the ongoing war in her second home country, Ukraine, and displacement, while touching on the importance of the relationship between humans and nature.
She will share the stage with young up-and-coming artist Alexa, who will present her own music. “Alexa’s music captivates listeners with a blend of deeply personal narratives and universally relatable themes performed with authenticity and sensitivity. Her songs explore the complexities of love and life with an empowering twist – encouraging self-expression, strength, resilience and independence. As a new generation artist, Alexa aims to bring a fresh perspective to the music industry and contribute to a dynamic musical landscape that reflects the diverse experiences and voices of young people today.”
