BOYERTOWN — The Colebrookdale Railroad, in conjunction with Bentley Systems Inc., announced that a Sensory Friendly Fall Fest and Train Ride will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26.
“We are honored to partner with Bentley Systems Inc. on this important initiative and to be able to offer this unique experience to the special needs community. It is part of our mission as a certified autism center to provide a safe and inclusive environment,” Colebrookdale Railroad General Manager Josh Alderfer said in a press release.
Events begin in the railyard at 2 p.m. with visits from Bluey and Rubble, a Touch-a-Truck firetruck, a petting zoo from CW Pet Parties, a face painter, a craft station and other events. Sensory-friendly refreshments will also be served.
Once on the train, which will depart at 3:30 p.m. for an hour ride, participants will be able to complete a scavenger hunt during the ride. There will also be special accommodations on the train such as a quiet car for anyone wanting to be away from sound. Sensory friendly snacks and drinks will also be available on board.
Train tickets for adults are $20 and all children under age 16 will ride for free.
