Cat killer’s trial to begin on Thursday

Cat killer’s trial to begin on Thursday

The trial of a 43-year-old man who killed a cat and then shared a grotesque picture of the cat he had just killed to his social media is set to begin in the north on Thursday.

The man had posted the picture of a severely maimed dead cat to his social media in November last year and faced fierce backlash from the public. He said the cat had been “harming newborn lambs in his sheep pen”.

The Turkish Cypriot police released a statement at the time saying, “after brutally killing a cat caught in a device he had prepared for foxes, he took a photograph of it and published it on his social media account

The man lives in the Karpas peninsula village of Ayios Ilias, and as such will face trial in Trikomo.
