Thrilling choreographies, powerful songs and theatre are coming to the island as Broadway’s longest-running musical travels to Cyprus. Get ready for plenty of razzle-dazzle, mischief and love crimes to hit the stage of the Nicosia Municipal Theatre.
The renowned musical Chicago, made famous by the 2002 film starring Renée Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere and Queen Latifah, is currently the longest show on Broadway, entertaining audiences with fiery dances and passionate love affairs. The musical is on its European tour and this February it will present seven shows to Cypriot audiences.
A cast of outstanding performers selected from the West End and Broadway elite brings to life the music of John Kander, the lyrics of Fred Ebb, and a script by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse. Prison cells, courtrooms, negotiations and tales of betrayal and love make up the storyline, guided by the central roles of Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly and Billy Flynn.

Chicago is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today’s tabloids.
The musical’s sexy, sassy score includes the show-stopping songs Razzle Dazzle, Cell Block Tango, and All That Jazz. Winner of six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy, Chicago is the longest-running American musical in Broadway and West End history and soon it will land in Cyprus for a whole week of performances!
