MAXTON, N.C. (WBTW) — Bond was denied Tuesday afternoon for a man accused of shooting and killing a 7-year-old girl in Maxton over the weekend.

Dedric Page, 31, of Maxton, was not given bond on his first-degree murder or discharging a weapon into occupied property charges. He was given a $100,000 secured bond on his possession of a firearm by a felon charge and a $1,000 bond on his discharging a weapon inside city limits charge.

Page’s charges stem from the killing of Quazariya G. Williams, 7. She died at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg after Page fired shots into a car with five other people inside on E. Graham Street, Police Chief Schirra Johnson said. It happened at about 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Page was arrested shortly after the shooting. Police Lt. Patrick Hunt said he was out on bond on a weapons charge at the time of the shooting.

According to Hunt, the shooting happened during a dispute between Page and the girl’s mother. Hunt’s next court appearance is set for Nov. 26.
