Biden’s first comment on the killing of Hassan Nasrallah

US President Joe Biden said, on Saturday, in his first comment on the killing of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, that his killing was a “just measure.”

On Saturday, Biden described Israel’s killing of Hassan Nasrallah as a “just measure” given his many victims, and said that the United States fully supports Israel’s right to defend itself.

Biden said he directed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to strengthen the defensive posture of US military forces in the Middle East to deter aggression and reduce the risk of a broader war.

He added that the United States ultimately aims to calm the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon through diplomatic means.
