The Bank of Cyprus has called on all its customers to be aware of fraudsters who claim to represent the bank.
These people promote false investment opportunities that appear authentic by sending people emails and SMS messages that lead them to fake websites to trick users into submitting their 1bank login information, One-Time Codes (OTP), card information and their other banking and personal information.
They may also contact the public by phone or social media telling them that they “must act now” or that “they have a great investment opportunity!”.
“The Bank of Cyprus remains committed to strengthening fraud prevention and security measures,” the banks said in a statement on Wednesday.
The bank urges the public to trust only the bank’s official website and communication channels both for accessing their accounts and for information about the bank’s products and services. In addition, it emphasises to not respond to any links contained in emails, SMS or social media posts.
They urged customers to contact the bank through their official channels, if they receive any type of message.
Customers should never share any banking or personal information like 1bank passwords, card numbers, OTPs even if someone contacts them claiming to be from the bank.
The bank calls the public to forward fraud messages to the address: [email protected] and to immediately stop any suspicious calls and inform the Bank on 800 00 800 or +357 22128000 if they are calling from abroad.
