The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has lifted its ban on campfires in state parks and forest lands after several days of rain.
The DCNR said in a news release Friday that it was lifting the ban after wet weather reduced the risk of fire. Residents are encouraged to be careful when burning.
Campfires are allowed in fire rings that confine and contain the fire in designated areas. In state parks, they take place in well-controlled environments, with staff available for quick response, according to the release.
The ban was in place after several weeks of dryness across the state, which prompted burn bans and drought watches. The countywide burn bans do not cover campfires in state parks or forests.
