KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) – One person is dead after they were ejected from an ATV and run over by an ambulance early Sunday morning in Kansas City, Missouri, police said.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, just after 3:15 a.m., officers were dispatched for reports of an injury crash involving an ATV with an ejected driver.
Investigations revealed that, before the crash, an ambulance had been driving southbound where the ATV reportedly began doing “tricks” on the road with no headlights on.
Police said the driver of the ATV eventually lost control after accelerating, causing it to crash into the ambulance.
The driver was ejected from the ATV and run over by the ambulance. Emergency responders pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
KCPD said the ambulance driver and the front-seat passenger were not injured in the crash, nor was the patient in the back. This allowed emergency responders to finish their transport.
Authorities have not identified the victim or released any additional information about the incident.
