The Arab League honored the UAE for its efforts in supporting the project to combat the illicit proliferation of small arms and light weapons in Arab countries, which is organized by the League in cooperation with the European Union.

This came at the conclusion of the UAE’s participation in the “Conference on Combating the Illicit Trafficking and Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons” at the headquarters of the Arab League in Cairo.

The honorary shield was received by His Excellency Mohammed Suhail Al Neyadi, Director General of the Weapons and Hazardous Materials Office of the Supreme National Security Council and Head of the State Delegation.

The conference discussed the evaluation of the second phase of the European Union and League of Arab States project on combating the illicit trafficking and proliferation of small arms and light weapons and the challenges it faced during that phase, the future prospects of the project and international control measures on the transfer of small arms, including border control, combating the flow of illicit arms and identifying and disrupting their sources.
