An appeal has been lodged against a court decision nullifying the election of Savvas Savva to the post of Alassa community leader.
This was announced on Monday by Limassol district returning officer Electra Panayiotou.
On October 9, a court had decided to nullify Savva’s election, after his rival had taken the case to court, saying Savva was not a permanent resident of the community.
Panayiotou said the appeal was lodged on October 23 and now the appeals court will decide whether or not to ratify the court ruling.
She expressed hope that proceedings would not take too long.
On October 13, residents had protested the court decision, cutting off the Limassol-Platres road near Alassa.
