The framework announcement ceremony was witnessed by The UAE And America, in Washington, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, and Jake Sullivan, US National Security Advisor.
The framework affirms the two countries’ shared desire to deepen cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and related technologies and the joint commitment to developing a memorandum of understanding between the two countries’ governments on artificial intelligence, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The framework indicates that both countries recognize the enormous potential of AI, including accelerating economic growth, transforming education and healthcare, creating jobs, advancing environmental sustainability, and more. At the same time, they recognize the challenges and risks posed by this emerging technology and the vital importance of providing safeguards and protections in relation to it.
The two sides affirmed their determination to cooperate in many areas, most notably: promoting safe and reliable artificial intelligence and supporting ethical research and development, building regulatory frameworks to promote innovation in the field of artificial intelligence, in addition to expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence protection, cybersecurity and developing talents in this field, in addition to supporting clean energy for the requirements of artificial intelligence systems and promoting artificial intelligence for sustainable development in developing countries.
