A man was found dead Monday night in Amity Township in an apparent hunting accident, Amity police said Tuesday.
The man in his 60s remains unidentified until the Berks County coroner’s office notifies the next of kin.
According to police:
On Oct. 7, at about 8 p.m., emergency responders arrived at the 200 block of Geiger Road for calls reporting a dead man hanging from a tree.
First responders were directed to the victim through a corn field and wooded area.
The victim appeared to be setting up his tree stand and possibly fell while trimming a limb near his tree stand.
In addition to Amity police, responders also included Amity Fire and Rescue, Monarch Fire Co., Tower Direct EMS, the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and the Berks County coroner’s office.
An investigation is ongoing.
