AED 45 billion in new investments for UAE banks since the beginning of the year

Banks operating in the country added AED 45 billion to their total investment portfolio during the first half of this year, raising the cumulative balance of investments from AED 635.1 billion at the end of 2023 to AED 680.2 billion in June of this year 2024.

Recent indicators issued by the Central Bank today showed that the value of investments in bonds held until maturity amounted to AED 332.2 billion, while the value of investments in securities representing debts owed by others (“debt bonds”) amounted to AED 279.6 billion by the end of the first half.

In contrast, the value of investments in stocks reached 16.7 billion dirhams, while 51.7 billion dirhams were distributed in other types of investments.
