Lucid has released a major software update for its car, which includes the addition of voice assistant features that help operate the car’s functions with voice commands.
The Lucid Air has everything you’d want in a luxury electric sedan, from blistering acceleration, to plenty of space, to a futuristic look that makes it stand out in traffic.
But modern consumers expect their luxury sedans to keep up with the latest technology not only in terms of the actual components, but also in their software equipment.
The latest update 2.4 is installed just like a smartphone software update, and can be done remotely without having to be near the car.
As you’d expect from a company based in the heart of America’s tech and electronics industry, Silicon Valley, the software update package is designed to ease the burden of operating various car functions while driving on congested roads.
The DreamDrive Pro electronic driver assistance software update includes high-resolution highway maps with 3D graphics of what is displayed on the car’s instrument panel.
This program also works while driving on very winding roads, and the speed is automatically slowed down when driving on curves.
But what’s even more exciting for Lucid Air owners is the addition of a walk-and-stop command to the car in traffic.
With the new update, when the car stops for a long time due to traffic congestion, it will resume driving as soon as the driver looks forward and the car in front of it moves.
Apple CarPlay navigation directions are also displayed in real time on the instrument cluster display. And as other manufacturers continue to update their driver assistance systems, simply holding down the turn signal button will automatically make the car change lanes.
The software update also includes wireless voice assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa or Google Assistant.
By simply pressing the microphone icon and saying, “Hello Lucid,” the driver can control many functions with voice commands.
According to the Car News website, which specializes in automotive topics, the 2.4 update helps the Lucid car continue to compete with the latest cars in terms of technical equipment.
