His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
His Highness and Guterres discussed ways to enhance existing cooperation between the UAE and the United Nations, especially in the humanitarian and development fields.
The two sides’ talks also touched on all the topics on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the outcomes of the “Future Summit” held at the invitation of His Excellency the Secretary-General, and its role in enhancing multilateral action in confronting global challenges.
His Highness and His Excellency António Guterres exchanged views on current developments at the regional and international levels, and their impact on international peace and security, and reviewed ways to enhance the global response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s keenness to deepen cooperation and partnership relations with the United Nations and its various programmes, in a way that contributes to supporting sustainable development paths in societies, and adopting innovative, flexible and effective solutions in the face of global challenges.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.
