Abdullah bin Zayed and Sigrid Kaag discuss in New York efforts to enhance response to humanitarian conditions in Gaza

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met in New York with Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations Special Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza.

During the meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Highness and Kaag discussed the difficult humanitarian conditions suffered by civilians in the Gaza Strip, and ways to enhance the international response to this worsening humanitarian crisis in the Strip.

The two sides also discussed the regional and international efforts exerted towards a ceasefire in the Strip, which would allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians in Gaza in a sufficient, safe and sustainable manner.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the UAE’s firm commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people, noting the keenness to cooperate with the United Nations and all concerned parties in the international community to provide the necessary humanitarian support to affected civilians in the Strip, which would contribute to alleviating their suffering.

The meeting was attended by Her Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.
