A man was arrested when large quantities of duty-free tobacco products and thousands of euros in cash were found after a tip-off on Monday in Agglisides in the Larnaca district.
Customs officers found and confiscated 985 cartons of 200 cigarettes each, 345 cartons of heated cigarettes, 56 kilos and 615 grammes of rolling tobacco, 8kg and 250gr of narghile tobacco and 637gr of pipe tobacco, all duty-free.
The duty for the tobacco confiscated is estimated at over €57,000.
Police searched the man’s car and found €19,430 in cash.
The man will be taken before a court on Tuesday for a remand order.
Police said this was not the first time the suspect had been arrested for similar offences.
