The Ukrainian army announced that Russia launched a drone attack on Kiev, adding that air defense units were involved in confronting the attack.
Witnesses heard a number of explosions that appeared to be air defense systems operating, and saw projectiles being bombed in the air.
Sirens sounded for air attacks in Kiev and the surrounding area, and the Ukrainian air force warned that Russia was targeting the area with attack drones.
Officials revealed on Sunday that more than 100 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russia, sparking a forest fire and engulfing an apartment building in one of the largest shooting operations seen in the skies over Russia since the start of its military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it shot down 125 drones overnight in seven regions.
