LOWER POTTSGROVE — A self-storage facility that opened in the Charlotte Commons shopping center in Lower Pottsgrove this summer is performing well, according to the owners.
The 65,000-square-foot CubeSmart self-storage facility opened at the shopping center in June next to Planet Fitness, 1400 N. Charlotte St. Since then, the leasing performance of the facility has “exceeded expectations, according to Michael Shanley, a representative for the owner’s management team, who said occupancy is strong.
“We anticipate continued success in the months ahead. The community has shown great appreciation for our self-storage facility, particularly because we are one of the few climate-controlled options in the area,” Shanley said in an emailed response to questions.
Plans for the CubeSmart had been in the works for about a year, Shanley said. The property was purchased in 2014 by 1400 NCRD LP, which then approached CubeSmart to manage the facility.
“CubeSmart liked our location due to the high demand and the lack of quality self-storage facilities,” he said.
The new CubeSmart features a range of storage solutions, including climate-controlled units that are designed to keep stored items from fluctuations in temperature and humidity. This storage facility is aimed at meeting the growing demand for reliable storage options in the Pottstown area, according to a press release.
CubeSmart includes 24-hour video recording and electronic and remote gate access, and a variety of unit sizes that range from 25 feet to 350 feet.
The shopping center has a total of 83,463 square feet. In addition to CubeSmart and Planet Fitness, there is a pad site available on the property. The CubeSmart occupies space that had previously been a grocery store.
Shanley added that while several unit sizes are currently sold out, there is a variety of sizes available. The facility is currently running a limited-time fall sale, offering one month free and 50% off select units.
CubeSmart is a self-administered and self-managed real estate company focused on the ownership, operation, acquisition, and development of self-storage facilities in the United States.
