The Israeli army announced on Sunday that more than 20 members of the Lebanese Hezbollah were killed in the violent strike that targeted the southern suburb of Beirut, the party’s stronghold, on Friday, and claimed the life of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah.

An army statement said: “A precise attack by the Air Force and under the guidance of the intelligence wing, warplanes attacked the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, and Ali Karki, the commander of the Southern Front, one of the senior leaders who remained in the organization before the revolution, which led to their deaths.”

He added: With them were eliminated more than 20 others, of various ranks, who gathered in the underground headquarters in Beirut, under a civilian building – and from there they managed, planned and led the fight against Israel.

The Israeli army published a list containing a number of names who it said were at the party’s headquarters during its targeting, including:

Ibrahim Hussein Jezzini, head of Nasrallah’s security unit.
Samir Tawfiq Deeb, Nasrallah’s advisor for many years.
Abdel Amir Muhammad Siblini, responsible for building the strength of the Hezbollah group
Ali Nayef Ayoub, Hezbollah fire department official.

Israeli reports had confirmed that the Israeli army dropped more than 80 bombs, the average weight of each bomb was one ton of explosive materials, on the location of Hassan Nasrallah in the southern suburb of Beirut, on Friday.
