Police received a report about gunshots being fired in the bar and restaurant area in the city center shortly after one o’clock in the morning local time, while the disguised revelers fled on foot.
City Police Chief Eric Smith said, during a press briefing on Friday morning, that a second shooting occurred minutes later, a short distance from the police, who quickly arrested a person.
Smith explained that the six injured people, aged between 19 and 39, were taken to hospital to receive treatment and their condition is stable.
He reported that a 17-year-old suspect was arrested.
Smith showed video footage from street surveillance cameras and a police officer’s body camera, showing fire Twice, and the suspect was arrested at the site of the second shooting.
Smith added that after the first shooting, police used security video to obtain a description of the suspect, but the second shooting occurred close to the police and officers witnessed the attack.
“Regardless of the suspect’s state of mind, he would have opened fire no matter the cost,” Smith continued, noting that the suspect’s motives are part of the ongoing investigation.
He added that a gun was found at the place where the suspect was arrested, and there were no other suspects.
