T+ T – Normal size

The Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services has completed the launch of the first phase of its innovative project in cooperation with the American Heart Association (AHA) to improve the quality of resuscitation, which included the distribution of smart simulators in ambulance stations with the aim of enhancing training efficiency through advanced technologies, and expanding the scope of learning to ensure continuity of professional development and evaluation. Paramedic performance, as well as accelerating the licensing process.

The Executive Director of the Dubai Ambulance Services Corporation, Mishal Abdul Karim Julfar, said that the Corporation achieved tangible achievements in the first phase of launching the project, by registering 898 paramedics in the system, and 718 paramedics successfully completed the training mission, which reflects a completion rate of 80%, which contributed to enhancing the skills of… Ambulance teams and raising the level of readiness to respond to emergency situations effectively and efficiently.

Julfar stressed that the institution is constantly striving to keep pace with the ambitious directions and vision of the Dubai government in innovation, leadership, sustainability, and quality of life in the medical fields, noting that the implementation of the project to improve the quality of resuscitation, which is one of the initiatives of the Dubai Plan 2033, will support the smart and digital transformation processes in the institution, enhance the quality of its services, and develop skills. Its national cadres use smart devices and technologies in the field of training and professional development in emergency medicine for medical personnel.

Dr. Suhaila Hussein Qaed, Director of the Training and Continuing Education Department, pointed out that “the specialized and focused professional programs in the field of basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation are among the important and main programs to improve the quality of resuscitation operations and increase the chances of survival in the pre-hospital stage,” noting that the program will provide training. It continues in an easy and smooth way, and allows learning at any time and at several stations in the Emirate of Dubai.

It will also include assessing the skills and knowledge of its members and evaluating performance during the training process. Which will contribute to improving the services provided to community members. Dr. Suhaila stressed that “the project reflects the organization’s commitment to developing the skills of its human resources and its keenness to provide advanced ambulance services that contribute to the quality and happiness of life for the Dubai community.”

On the other hand, the UAE joins the countries of the world in celebrating World Heart Day, which falls today, September 29th of each year, which is an opportunity to highlight the importance of taking care of heart health and raise the awareness of community members about ways to prevent heart disease, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles that… Protects them from this disease.

Dr. Rami Harb, Consultant Cardiologist, pointed out that heart disease is a description of a group of pathological conditions that affect the heart and include blood vessel diseases, such as coronary artery disease, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia), and heart problems from birth (congenital heart defects). Cardiomyopathy, heart valve disease, and other diseases.

In addition to some genetic causes that may increase the risk of heart disease, lifestyles play a decisive role in exposure to these diseases. Smoking first increases the risk of many diseases, including heart disease, because of its significant impact on increasing the severity of inflammation in the body and exposing the body to a number of diseases. It contains a huge amount of toxic compounds, causing hardening of the arteries, accelerating the heartbeat, and having a significant impact on various vital processes in the body and the nervous system, while poor dietary patterns and lack of exercise contribute to increasing the chances of contracting these diseases, especially when cholesterol and triglycerides are high, and the elasticity of the arteries is low. Which causes high blood pressure.

For his part, Dr. Walid Faraj, a cardiologist, said that diabetes can lead to high levels of cholesterol in the blood and high blood pressure as well, both of which increase the risk of heart disease.

In addition, high blood sugar levels may damage the walls of the arteries, making it easier for fats to accumulate inside them and thus increasing the risk of a heart attack. Dr. Walid pointed out that the patient may need medications to control the symptoms of heart disease and prevent complications. The type of medication used depends on the type of heart disease.

Dr. Walid pointed out that if medications are not enough, the health care provider may use specific procedures or surgeries to treat cardiovascular disease. These methods include cardiac catheterization, stents, and bypass surgery, each of which has benefits that vary according to the health condition, as cardiac catheterization plays a diagnostic and therapeutic role. It is used to diagnose coronary artery diseases by imaging blood vessels and determining the extent of narrowing or blockage of the arteries, in addition to being a non-surgical procedure, where a fine tube is inserted through an artery in the thigh or arm, which reduces pain and the recovery period compared to surgery, in addition to its ability To repair arteries, especially since it can be used to open narrow or blocked arteries using a balloon to expand them or install a stent.

In turn, Dr. Firas Badr, Head of the Department of Heart Failure and Transplantation at the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Institute, indicated that research is currently being conducted into the possibility of gene therapy as a potential means of treating certain types of cardiovascular diseases, with a special focus on genetic conditions. It is worth noting that various abnormalities in Heart disease can cause progressive heart failure or even sudden death, which can occur at any age.

It is reported that preliminary results in small numbers of people look promising.

However, some significant challenges remain regarding developing and delivering gene therapy for heart disease, as researchers use gene editing to develop new treatments. Therefore, clinical trials are currently being conducted on people with three genetic conditions: abnormally high cholesterol; hypertrophic cardiomyopathy; A form of heart failure caused by amyloid deposits.
