Nabil Sultan, Executive Vice President of Passenger Sales and International Management at Emirates, confirmed that the company transported more than one million passengers to and from China during the past year, in addition to shipping about 112 thousand tons of cargo, which reflects the importance of the Chinese market for Emirates.

In press statements on the sidelines of his participation in the UAE-China Business Forum, he said that Emirates Airlines operates about 35 flights per week to three destinations in China, distributed between 14 flights from Shanghai, 14 flights from Beijing, and 7 flights from Guangzhou.

Sultan stressed that the Chinese market is very large and opens its doors widely, noting that the Chinese government has begun providing visas to more nationalities, including visitors from Europe, which will contribute to stimulating incoming tourism.

Sultan pointed out that the Chinese market is witnessing major demographic changes, as the younger generations have the purchasing power to travel and vacation, are tech-savvy, speak English, and are considered international travelers.

He said Emirates sees significant opportunities in air cargo, with Dubai serving as a major re-export hub for products destined for other destinations in the region and beyond.
