Apple has withdrawn from talks to participate in a financing round for OpenAI that is expected to raise about $6.5 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Yesterday, the newspaper quoted an informed source as saying that the giant technology company “Apple” recently withdrew from the talks regarding the round, which is scheduled to close in the coming days.
She added that other companies, including Microsoft and Nvidia, are participating in the talks, noting that Microsoft is expected to invest about one billion dollars, after it has already pumped 13 billion dollars into the company.
OpenAI, which developed Chat GPT, declined to comment, while Apple has not yet responded to a request for comment.
The Wall Street Journal was the first to report last month about Apple’s participation in the talks, which come as part of a new effort by OpenAI to raise financing with the aim of raising its market value to more than $100 billion.
