Third man charged after stabbing at property in Strood High Street

A third man has been charged after a stabbing in a high street.

Police were called to a report of a disturbance at a property in Strood High Street at around 11.40pm on Sunday, October 6.

Shortly afterwards, officers were called to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham after a man arrived with injuries consistent with stab wounds.

A cordon was placed at the property in Strood and two police cars were spotted outside the Nattiya Baan Thai Massage and Therapy parlour, and the Morfose Kings Barbers shop, near Rochester Bridge, the following morning.

The victim, who is in his 20s, was taken to a London hospital and has since been discharged.

Police launched an investigation and a suspect was arrested in Northampton on Wednesday, October 16. Officers also seized a quantity of cannabis.

Raphael Wally, of Wateridge Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, was later charged on suspicion of wounding with intent and possessing class B drugs with intent to supply.

The 20-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court where he was remanded to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday, November 11.

In connection with the investigation, officers also detained a man on Monday, October 7.

Callum Clements, of Keary Road, Swanscombe, was later charged on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The 26-year-old appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 16 where he was remanded to the same crown court hearing as Wally.

On Thursday, October 24, a third suspect was arrested in connection with a serious assault.

Joshua Akra, of Hillbeck Close, Southwark, London, was later charged on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The 20-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, October 25 and he was remanded to a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on November 11.
