The UAE is a member of the Steering Committee of the Global Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities Network

The UAE, represented by the Emirates Accounting Authority, headed by His Excellency Humaid Obaid Abu Shabas, Chairman of the Authority, joined the membership of the Steering Committee of the Global Operational Network of Law Enforcement Authorities concerned with combating corruption, which concluded its fifth meeting today in the Chinese capital, Beijing, and lasted for four days.

The GlobE Network is an international initiative under the umbrella of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. It was established in 2021 and aims to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement authorities around the world to combat corruption.

The network currently includes 219 bodies and entities from 121 countries that are parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC), and contributes to facilitating cooperation through the exchange of information and experiences, and enhancing efforts to detect, investigate and prosecute corruption.

During the meeting, the Emirates Accounting Authority delegation delivered a statement in which it affirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting the efforts of the global network, with a focus on implementing the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in a transparent and efficient manner to ensure the success of initiatives and the exchange of experiences in the field of anti-corruption.

The UAE’s accession to the membership of the Steering Committee of the Global Anti-Corruption Network is a reflection of the confidence that member states have in the continuous efforts it is making in this field and confirms the UAE’s keenness to strengthen its leadership role and its efforts in formulating international policies related to combating corruption, and to contribute to building a better global future in this field. .

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Chairman of the Emirates Accounting Authority held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Lu Shuashen, Deputy Secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and Deputy Director of the National Oversight Commission of the People’s Republic of China, during which they discussed ways to enhance strategic cooperation between the two countries in the areas of combating corruption and exchanging experiences, reflecting the depth of strategic relations. They agreed to enhance future coordination in initiatives aimed at achieving common international goals.

His Excellency Hamid Obaid Abu Shabas also met with a number of his counterparts from several other countries, and the main topics on the agenda of the network meeting were discussed, emphasizing the importance of unifying international efforts to achieve common goals, developing strategies, and exchanging information and experiences.

In a related development, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won the presidency of the Steering Committee of the Global Operational Network of Law Enforcement Authorities concerned with combating corruption for the period 2025-2027.
