His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met separately in New York with a number of foreign ministers of countries participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
His Highness met with Anthony Blinken, Secretary of State of the United States of America, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, Dr. Ian Borg, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta, Mohamed Hassan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Singapore, and Maxim Rezhenkov. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic, and Giorgos Grapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece.
His Highness and the foreign ministers discussed all the issues on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly. The discussions also touched on the importance of joint cooperation within the framework of international organizations and its role in supporting global sustainable development goals.
Bilateral cooperation and partnership were reviewed in many fields, including economic, trade, investment, education, food security, health, culture, artificial intelligence, advanced technology, renewable energy and climate.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed the foreign ministers, stressing the UAE’s consistent approach to developing and consolidating the base of its relations with friendly countries of the world, in a way that meets common development aspirations, supports efforts to achieve sustainable economic prosperity, and promotes the values of coexistence and tolerance at the regional and global levels.
During his meetings with foreign ministers, His Highness also discussed current developments at the regional and global levels and the situation in the Middle East region and its repercussions on international peace and security.
In a related context, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a joint meeting with Comfort Ero, CEO of the International Crisis Group, during which cooperation between the UAE and the International Crisis Group was discussed, especially on the humanitarian level in light of the current challenges witnessed in several regions of the world.
His Highness also held a joint meeting with Mirjana Spolijaric Iger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, during which they discussed joint cooperation in the humanitarian and relief fields, efforts to enhance the humanitarian response to the needs of civilians in the Gaza Strip, and the role of the UAE in delivering humanitarian aid to affected peoples around the world.
The meetings were attended by Her Excellency Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation, His Excellency Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, His Excellency Yousef Mana Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States of America, and Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs. Economic and Commercial Affairs, Omran Sharaf, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Science and Advanced Technology, and Ambassador Mohammed Abu Shehab, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the United Nations.
