Macron arrives in Morocco on a 3-day state visit

Macron arrives in Morocco on a 3-day state visit

The French President was received by the Moroccan King King Mohammed VI Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Prince Moulay Rachid, along with a number of officials.

Macron is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with King Mohammed VI and Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, and will deliver a speech before the Moroccan Parliament.

The Moroccan King and the French President are also expected to witness the signing of a number of agreements between the two countries.

The French president’s visit comes months after Macron changed France’s long-standing public position and supported Morocco’s plan for autonomy in the Sahara.

Morocco is France’s first trading partner in Africa, as French businessmen aspire to strengthen relations with Morocco and enhance their presence in the Kingdom.

Areas of coordination between Moroccan and French businessmen will include the automobile and aviation industries, and Morocco also aspires to expand the railway network, as Macron and the Moroccan King had previously inaugurated the “Buraq” high-speed train in 2018.
