Saudi Arabia opens the luxury island of “Sindala” in the city of NEOM

“Sindala enhances NEOM’s efforts to support luxury tourism in the Kingdom,” NEOM CEO Nazmi Al-Nasr said in a statement.

He added, “It is longer Sindala “NEOM’s first destination to welcome visitors, which indicates the acceleration of business and the progress of NEOM’s projects towards achieving its ambitious global vision.”

Sindalah Island extends over an area of 840,000 square metres, and will receive about 2,400 visitors daily by 2028, according to the statement.

The massive NEOM project, led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is famous for its main axis, “The Line,” a building with two mirrored facades that is scheduled to extend 170 kilometers across the desert from the Gulf of Aqaba.

When unveiling “The Line” in 2022, Prince Mohammed bin Salman announced that it would host more than one million people in 2030, and nine million people in 2045.

However, the project developers have adjusted their ambitions to 300,000 people and 2.4 kilometers of the project will be completed by the end of the decade, according to Bloomberg.

The project is being implemented in parallel with other major projects as part of “Vision 2030,” which aims to diversify the economy in the world’s largest crude oil exporting country.
