A 17-year-old boy has been hospitalised and required surgery on a leg injury after being involved in a fight on Larnaca’s Finikoudes beach on Monday night.
According to the Cyprus News Agency, the fight broke out outside a café on the beachfront at around 9pm between a 23-year-old man and a “group” of other young people.
The 17-year-old was taken to Larnaca general hospital after the fight with abrasions on his left cheek and right hand, and a “deep contusion wound” on his scalp which was stitched up.
He then underwent surgery on a leg tendon injury.
Police investigations into the matter found that the boy had been reported as missing by a shelter in Limassol.
The 23-year-old was not hurt in the fight but was summoned by the police to be interrogated.
The cafe’s furniture was also reportedly damaged as a result of the fight.
