His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Excellency Joe Biden, President of the friendly United States of America, today discussed the strategic relations between the UAE and the United States and joint efforts to strengthen these relations in various fields to achieve their common interests, in addition to regional and international issues of common interest.
This came during His Excellency Joe Biden’s reception at the White House of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the accompanying delegation, as part of His Highness’s official visit to the United States, where the US President welcomed His Highness, stressing the importance of the visit in strengthening strategic cooperation relations between the two countries at all levels.
His Highness and the US President reviewed the prospects of cooperation and the importance of expanding its fields, especially the economic, commercial, investment, technology, artificial intelligence, and space sciences, in addition to renewable energy, combating climate change, food security, sustainability solutions, and other aspects that serve the vision of the two countries towards achieving a more advanced and prosperous future for all, within the framework of the historical relations that extend to more than fifty years and the diverse and extended partnership that brings the two countries together.
The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of common interest, focusing on developments in the Middle East, most notably the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the efforts made towards a ceasefire in the Strip, which would allow the flow of sufficient humanitarian aid without obstacles and contain the escalation in the region that threatens its security and stability. In this context, His Highness praised President Joe Biden’s initiative and the joint mediation efforts undertaken by the United States, the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar to reach an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of prisoners and detainees from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides. His Highness stressed the importance of continuing these efforts as a first step towards resuming the political process to achieve comprehensive, just and lasting peace based on the “two-state solution”, which would ensure security and stability for all peoples of the region.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE and the United States of America are bound by strong friendship and strategic alliances based on solid foundations of mutual trust, respect and common interests, in addition to a long history of cooperation in various political, economic and other fields.
His Highness also stressed the UAE’s keenness to continue strengthening its cooperation with the United States of America in light of their shared visions regarding working for peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East and the world, and building an effective international position towards common global challenges. This stems from the UAE’s steadfast approach towards supporting stability, peace and development at the regional and global levels through collective international multilateral action.
During the meeting, the two sides stressed their keenness to continue strengthening strategic cooperation relations between the two countries, in light of the interest their leaderships attach to developing these relations in a way that achieves their common interests.
At the end of their meeting, the two sides stressed the two countries’ keenness to exert more efforts to contain the crises witnessed by the region, limit the deterioration of the humanitarian situation there, and support the foundations of its security and stability.
His Highness wrote a word in the visitors’ book upon his arrival at the White House, saying: “I was pleased with this visit and meeting with His Excellency President Joe Biden. UAE-US relations are a solid strategic one, and we continue to work together to strengthen them in a way that serves the common development of the two countries. I wish the United States and its people further progress and prosperity.”
