The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) concluded its entertainment and promotional activities and events marking the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Dubai Metro with a grand celebration of the Metro Children, who were born from 9/9/2009, the day and date of the Metro’s inauguration, to 9/9/2023. These children were celebrated at Legoland Dubai Resorts.

In detail, Rashid Abdul Karim Al Mulla, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said that Legoland hosted children born in the Dubai Metro, accompanied by their parents, amidst various fun activities and events on a day filled with joy and delight with the laughter of the celebrated children and the happiness of their parents, who joined the RTA in celebrating this happy occasion, which marked the launch of the Metro, the icon of public transport in Dubai, and one of the most prominent projects in the emirate’s record full of achievements and vital and huge projects.

Al Mulla added: “RTA is keen to work side by side with the business sector in the country in general, and in the Emirate of Dubai in particular, not only in implementing its projects, but also in participating in its recreational and promotional activities and events, such as celebrating the anniversary of the Dubai Metro, out of its belief in the importance of the private sector, its companies and institutions, and the support, expertise and successful experiences they provide, as this sector is considered a strategic partner for government bodies and institutions in the emirate, including the Authority.”

LEGOLAND® Dubai was proud to be part of the Dubai Metro 15th Anniversary campaign, and celebrated its culmination with a special event on September 21 at the iconic MINILAND. The day kicked off with interactive activities, including LEGO® brick building and meet-and-greets with LEGO costume characters, followed by a cake cutting ceremony. Children gathered on the stage at MINILAND to take photos and were also treated to a performance by the Summer Dance Troupe, presented by the LEGOLAND Entertainment Team. Families were given full access to LEGOLAND Dubai’s theme park and water park, making it an unforgettable day of celebration.

“We are delighted to be part of the Dubai Metro 15th anniversary celebrations and to host such a meaningful event for Metro Kids,” said Tim Harrison-Jones, General Manager of LEGOLAND Dubai. “The children had a unique experience interacting with one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and we were excited to provide a day full of creativity, fun and memorable moments for them and their families. At LEGOLAND Dubai, we strive to provide unforgettable experiences for children and we were looking forward to making this day extra special for our young guests.”

This year’s celebration has been joined by a number of sponsors and partners to enhance the celebration of this occasion, including: Keolis – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the company responsible for operating the Dubai Metro and Tram, as a strategic partner, in addition to LEGOLAND Dubai, LEGO Middle East, IGLOO, Al Jaber Gallery, and Emirates Post as campaign partners.

To bring joy and happiness to people’s hearts, the public will enjoy watching various musical performances at Dubai Metro stations from September 21 to 27, where metro station goers will be treated to live musical pieces presented by Emirati and international artists as part of the fourth edition of the Dubai Metro Music Festival, organised by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office. The festival is widely attended by Dubai’s residents and visitors every year.
