Macron calls for ‘avoiding war’ after Hezbollah communications devices blown up

During phone calls with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Army Commander Joseph Aoun, Macron expressed his “deep concern following the series of explosions in Lebanon that contribute to a dangerous escalation of tensions in the region, putting civilians at risk.”

According to a statement issued by the Elysee, Macron confirmed that he will speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing that “all parties must act to avoid war.”

The Elysee added, “It is their responsibility to ensure that there is a legitimate executive authority in Lebanon capable of responding to the seriousness of the situation.”
