Cypriot folk drama on stage

Cypriot folk drama on stage

A new theatrical folk drama will present two evenings of storytelling, culture and artistry in Larnaca. Performed in the Greek-Cypriot dialect We Live in Another Phase is an original script by Antonis Lazarou, directed by Spyridonas PK Spyrou that is ready to charm audiences.

Two performances will be held on Friday and Saturday night at the Larnaca Municipal Theatre G Lykourgos. The performance takes place thanks to a remarkable collaboration between the organisers Vasilitzia Folkloric Organisation and the Fourth Wall Theatre Group. Together, they will take audiences on a journey of Cypriot storytelling, heartfelt emotions and striking reflection.

The story is set in a village in Cyprus in 2024. Two villagers decide to stir up the entire community, and their ideas force the villagers to split into two camps: Vraka vs Pants. In essence, it is Tradition versus Modernism. Stavris insists on following tradition and not forgetting our roots while Kyriakos disagrees and supports the idea that modernity is the future and change is necessary. Who will win and prevail will be revealed this week at the Larnaca theatre.
