Ending life through an assistant…a draft law raises controversy in Britain

Supporters of the bill say it is about shortening the lives of those with terminal illnesses and giving them more control.

Opponents say vulnerable patients may feel they must end their lives for fear of being a burden on their family and community, rather than prioritizing their own well-being.
